Pete wrote: Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:06 am Sorry guys - not good news - they can't provide a range-master this Saturday....

Next week is Easter, but how about if I try to arrange for the 10th of April?

They do want to know everyone's full names (and my address) , and specifically what firearms we want to use so they can put together the correct range for us.

So if you don't want to paste your full names here, can you ping them to me as a DM on Whatsapp, along with the firearm and caliber you would want to shoot on the 10th?

What I might try and arrange is an hour of rifles at 100m, then coffee break, then an hour of pistols at 25m - can you let me know if you'd like to do only rifles or pistols also?

Once I get the info rounded up, I'll ask one of my German-speaking staff to phone them and make the booking.

EDIT: - If you can - let me know if the following two Saturdays are possible for you just in case the 10th is also problematic.
Info sent by pm... I plan on bringing all my rifles, so if anyone wants to borrow one you're welcome to (see the thread for my compendium :p). If someone wants to borrow a pistol, let me know and I'll bring it along... but otherwise wasn't planning on bringing pistols (sadly, as I'm pretty desperate to try the new 1911... but I can wait for SSG to open)

I would like to join the 10th of April, if I can borrow a rifle.

So what's the plan for tomorrow?

What time do we meet? Who's coming?

I'll be driving from near Lenzburg - so if anyone needs a ride, let me know.

I'm planning on getting there between 0915 and 0930. Shall we meet in the carpark and then go to the range office?

Sounds good, I'll aim to be there at the same time... hopefully I can get everything into the car (can't really lift heavy weights... I'll find a solution)

So - What did everyone think of Selgis?

Personally it looks like a good spot - I think I'll do the prerequisite training to get membership.

Would anyone be interested in joining?

I could collect nominated dates and then ask them which of those dates they could deliver the training in English.

I would be up for another go... need to check prices before agreeing to membership...

From what I can tell, membership is 100chuffs a year, and gives 25% off on the non-member price.

Using the 100m range as the basis (as I would still use mainly SSG for pistols), that's 1.10/min or 66chf/hr. So with membership, that's a discount of 16.50 chf/hr, or 6 hours a year to make it worth it. Say an hour per go, that's once every two months to break even... that doesn't sound too onerous.

While I would LOVE to find something closer to home that is similar, I quite liked the facilities and the people - hard to understand her, but she seemed friendly too :p

I'm up for going again in May, a bit busy until then.... maybe we can combine the induction with a day out shooting, and maybe something nearby if pubs are open by then?

EDIT:

Can someone with better German than me read the rules? In particular this section:
The authorized person may not have additional persons (maximum 4 persons, accumulation of several members)
permitted, groups larger than 4 people are to be registered in the secretariat!)
The following requirements must be taken with you for shooting. He carries for himself and his companion for
full responsibility for compliance with the following conditions:
- According to the relevant legislation, the accompanying person is entitled to shoot in Switzerland
- The escort is familiar with the handling of weapons and does not pose any danger to himself or to third parties
- The accompanying person is instructed in advance by the member
- Without exception, the accompanying persons are to be given their names in advance before entering the facilities,
Date of birth, place of origin or nationality as well as exact home address clearly legible in
to be entered on the open attendance list. A copy of an official ID for each accompanying
person must be deposited in the mailbox in front of the shooting office before shooting starts
- Illegible, incorrect or missing entries in the attendance list are considered violations.
the provisions of the basic contract and, in the event of repetition, lead to the immediate
Loss of club membership
Im trying to figure out how it works with guests...

I sent Fr. Schuler an email asking about membership training in May.

Anyone else interested?

I'll be back in May, so I would be game.

Any idea on costs? That would be my only constraint...
